Today we learned how to set up our own AR platforms, so that we can upload three dimensional images as we please. I enjoyed this more than using ScanIt, because now when I upload a model it creates a QR code, and I can easily scan it to see the model. The only downside is that it doesn't pop up in the real world. But it's still cool to be able to interact with the model itself.
Today we reviewed AR, how it's applied in certain apps like Pokemon Go and filters on social media apps. Some scan your face and place objects on you or scan the area and place objects there. Some of the apps we can use to create AR experiences are meta spark studio and snap lens studio. We focused on understanding how to use ScanIt and PlaceIt to create a poster with AR features like 3D models, buttons and video. I will say it was easy to get lost trying to get things to work how you want them to, but it was interesting to see it come to life in the end.
Today in class, we learned about augmented reality. AR mixes the real world with technology. The 3 mediums of AR are phones, AR glasses, and holographic displays. I learned how to make an AR poster in Scanit and placed 3D objects in Placeit.
Today we learned about creating a poster with a couple different apps. We focused on AR today. We used Canva, Scanit, and Placeit as well as sketchfab
Today in class we focused on AR and how it is used in everyday life. For example on social media through the use of filters or how it is used in gaming like Pokémon GO. We then created a poster and worked with a website called ScanIt and PlaceIt to bring that poster into AR, from here we could add interactable elements such as videos and images. We then worked with AR 3D models and made interactable buttons that would hide and display different 3D objects.
In class today (9/11), we were introduced to AR features. This was used through the scanit and place it apps. In these apps, we created to displays which were both scanned from one app and also paced on the floor with the camera. We used canva to make posters and buttons for both actions. we also used sketchfab to find 3d models for these AR experiences.
